How UK Student Loan Repayment Calculator Works
Lets take example of Plan 2 Repayment Calculation:
Determine Annual Income: Repayments are based on income above a certain threshold. For the 2023/2024 tax year, the threshold is £27,295 per year.
Calculate Monthly Repayment: Repayments are 9% of the income above the threshold.
Monthly Repayment=(Annual Income−Threshold)×0.09/12
Example Calculation
Let’s assume:
- Annual income: £35,000
Determine the income above the threshold:
Income above the threshold: £35,000 – £27,295 = £7,705
Calculate the annual repayment:
Annual repayment: £7,705 × 0.09 = £693.45
Calculate the monthly repayment:
Monthly repayment: 693.45/12 ≈ 57.79
For an annual income of £35,000:
- Annual Income above Threshold: £7,705
